b. We have a $16,000 surplus need to allocate money.

b. WFP Library – Sarah was here w/ the librarians to talk about summer reading programs available.
2. Treasurer Report – By Jill Christopher
a. Handout reviewing current financials.
b. Found cheaper mat for the gym teachers, approved by Jill and LaVon.
c. Motion made to give Myles all money from glowstick sales: Approved Tracy. Total of $501.50
d. Amber Nerby brought up an indoor recess bin idea for next year. Different for each grade for indoor recess days.

a. Thank you to the teachers in attendance.
b. Thank you for meals during parent-teacher conferences.
c. We had a tremendously successful fundraiser/benefit on March 22. There were around 800 people in attendance. “Lend A Hand” also donated
a $5,000 match (their max amount). All together we raised around $45-$50K!
d. Our sprint parent teacher conference attendance was 96% which was 1% lower than last year.
e. Kindergarten pre-registration also had a good turnout. With 76 families registering as of last Wednesday for next year.
f. March was also music in our school’s month. Thanks to al our full-time music teachers for coordinating a weekly trivia question and a chance
for students to win a musical instrument.

• Skate City Party – Tracy Boehm we had 94 skaters and earned a portion of each skater.
o Next years dates: Thurs Oct 3rd, Mon Jan 13th, Tues March 31st.
• Book Fair – Robin Berg & Holly Aasby Book fair went well - $8,000 in sales.
• Drama Club – Mrs. Odegaard 30 students participated in Monsters play.
• Yearbook – books will go out the last week of school.
• Inflatables – 5 games for May 30th from 9am-3pm
• Dine to donate – at DQ on May 3rd

- Thank you to specialists that were able to join us for our meeting.
- Professional Learning Community Meetings - held weekly across the district; Our K-5 teachers continue to team with Freedom Elementary teachers twice each year on goals and sharing best practices/strategies. We hosted Freedom on Dec. 5 & will travel to Freedom on March 20.
- Team-building activity with staff: Our fabulous art teacher, Mrs. Puetz, is helping coordinate an after-school painting activity whereby staff will paint a new creation over the bucket-filling section of the south wall in our cafeteria….stayed tuned for the new creation!
- March is “Music in our Schools Month” – Special thanks to Mrs. Ray for coordinating activities, including:
➢ a weekly trivia question and a chance for students to win a musical instrument.”
➢ a display by the music room showing how music has played a part in the lives of Aurora staff members. - Upcoming Events:

a. Thank you to the teachers in attendance & to PTO for their on-going support of sponsoring activities that generate funds for our school.
b. Jan 28-Feb 1 we celebrated Kindness Week at Aurora. We also incorporated Giving Hearts Day activities this year as well. Special thanks to counselor Nikki Anderson and Kellie Haaby for coordinating these activities.
c. Friday Feb 8th will be Aurora’s 100th Day of School.
d. This week February 4-8 is National School Counselor’s week. Motion was made by Amber Nerby to gift $100 Greatful Crateful. Approved by Nikki & Lavon.
e. During the month of February, teachers are invited to have Mrs. Bormann come to their classrooms to read aloud in honor of “I love to read month”.

- Thank you to Grade 5 teachers for attending the meeting tonight. Mrs. Schultz & Mrs. Hamm represented grade 5.
- Thank you to the PTO for supporting the ongoing 5th grade Fro-Yo fund raising, for providing ‘themed surprises’ each day of American Education Week in November & for the holiday treats for staff prior to winter break.
- District Update: Passage of our bond referendum last fall means building addition on the north side of Aurora will start soon. New space will be designated to ART & Gifted/Talented teaching spaces. Ready Fall 2019.
- Kindness Week: Jan 28-Feb 1
- Random acts of kindness will be shared with Aurora students & staff. Incorporating giving hearts activities around valentine’s day.
- Look Ahead:
- Back to school night will be held on Thursday August 22
- First day of school grades 1-5 will be Tuesday Aug 27th, Kindergarten will be Thursday Aug 29th.
- Last day of school will be Thursday May 28th.
- Grade 5 ski trip: Date Feb 28th.

5. Committee Reports:
- Fall Fundraiser: Robin Berg & Holly Aasby There was a 41% approval for the Fall Fun Run send out via survey. Volunteers will be needed for a start up committee.
- Movie Night: Were able to extend our movie license due to the failure of our equipment to play our movie. We had a $680+ profit at the event. Feb 8th will be our next event
- Vendor Show: Report given by Holly Aasby. Was a success, able to set up on Friday. 39 registered. Set up date at first PTO meeting for 2019/2020. Feedback from PTO on use of the gym for kids to play in.
- Box Tops: Jill Christopher waiting on fall funds to be deposited.

- Skate City event will be Thursday, 1/10 from 6-8pm
- Dance or Family Fun (Carnival) Night: Decided to hold off on the carnival until the 2019/20 school year. Dance night will be held in March
- Milk Money for 2nd semester: PTO paid for 11 students
- Funding warm clothes: We were able to purchase Coats, Hats & Gloves to give to students in our school. Total spent was $260.95

November 2018
1. Meeting called to order at 6:30pm by LaVon Johnson. Welcome & introductions were made.
2. Treasurer’s Report: Motion was made to switch the PTO Checking account to Bell State
Bank, approved by Jenn Landphere & Trish Sorenson.
3. President’s Report: Noted there will be no flu-shot clinic this year at our school. We will be
sending out information to the school newsletter for walk in clinics in the area that provide
this service. Suggested to eliminate this committee.
4. Principals Report:
• Thank you’s: to grade 2 teachers for attending and PTO for providing conference meals
coordinating & facilitating the book fair.
• Parent teacher conference attendance was at 98% this fall, which is 2% higher than last
year.
• “Fill the Dome” is on November 19th. Our school will be participating and collecting food
the week of November 12th. Grade 5 students will be facilitating this project.
• District happenings: Superintendent Slette will hold a “State of the Schools” evening on
Nov 28th at Cheney Middle School at 7pm. Our school has been asked for 2 parent
volunteers to attend.
• Activities & Upcoming Events:
o Nov 9 – Grad 4 Music Program @ 8:30am
o No School – Veterans Day
o Nov 12-16 – American Education Week
o No PTO in December
o Remember no school – Wen 11/21- Mon 11/26
• Reading Eggs: it was brought up to looking into this program. They have a free trial
online, similar to DreamBox. It is a K-2nd Grade focus, cost after trial is $1,800/year.
5. Committee Reports:
• Bookfair and Fundraiser Report: Robin Berg & Holly Aasby – We noted we have
$4,500 in scholastic dollars. Taking input on hosting a Fun Run, sending out a survey
to parents to get school wide input.
• Spirit Wear – Amber Thorstad & Elizabeth Anderson – processing orders.
• Dance Night- Jenn Landphere & Megan Kratcha – Huge success, 150+ Kids (250
total), earned $150 profit on items sold. Charlie Beecher won the candy corn
guessing contest.
• American Education Week – Danielle Gilseth, Andrea Metcalf – Daily treats for each
day. Asked for $300 budget/approved.
• Vendor Show – Robin Berg 11/17 One sign ok, and will be emailing newspaper ads.
• Box Tops: Jill Christopher – So far we have $590
• After school clubs – K-1 cooking club over, lots of participation.

• End of year inflatables has been reserved.
• Needed winter gear items: Nerby/Anderson – Budget for $300/$350 Approved by LaVon Johnson & Jenn Landphere.
• Blood Drive: No dates available for November, moved to February.
• Movie Night: Friday 12/7, selling candy, pizza, donated cookies, looking for
volunteers. Friday 2/7 + Food! We currently have a 3 movie contract. Will be used on 12/7, 2/7 & Fall of 2019.
• School Tool Box: Update 430 children fed using this service!

1. Meeting called to order at 6:30pm by LaVon Johnson. Welcome & introductions were made.
2. Treasurer’s Report: Motion was made to switch the PTO Checking account to Bell State
Bank, approved by Jenn Landphere & Trish Sorenson.
3. President’s Report: Noted there will be no flu-shot clinic this year at our school. We will be
sending out information to the school newsletter for walk in clinics in the area that provide
this service. Suggested to eliminate this committee.
4. Principals Report:
• Thank you’s: to grade 2 teachers for attending and PTO for providing conference meals
coordinating & facilitating the book fair.
• Parent teacher conference attendance was at 98% this fall, which is 2% higher than last
year.
• “Fill the Dome” is on November 19th. Our school will be participating and collecting food
the week of November 12th. Grade 5 students will be facilitating this project.
• District happenings: Superintendent Slette will hold a “State of the Schools” evening on
Nov 28th at Cheney Middle School at 7pm. Our school has been asked for 2 parent
volunteers to attend.
• Activities & Upcoming Events:
o Nov 9 – Grad 4 Music Program @ 8:30am
o No School – Veterans Day
o Nov 12-16 – American Education Week

• Reading Eggs: it was brought up to looking into this program. They have a free trial
online, similar to DreamBox. It is a K-2nd Grade focus, cost after trial is $1,800/year.
5. Committee Reports:
• Bookfair and Fundraiser Report: Robin Berg & Holly Aasby – We noted we have
$4,500 in scholastic dollars. Taking input on hosting a Fun Run, sending out a survey
to parents to get school wide input.
• Spirit Wear – Amber Thorstad & Elizabeth Anderson – processing orders.
• Dance Night- Jenn Landphere & Megan Kratcha – Huge success, 150+ Kids (250
total), earned $150 profit on items sold. Charlie Beecher won the candy corn
guessing contest.
• American Education Week – Danielle Gilseth, Andrea Metcalf – Daily treats for each
day. Asked for $300 budget/approved.
• Vendor Show – Robin Berg 11/17 One sign ok, and will be emailing newspaper ads.
• Box Tops: Jill Christopher – So far we have $590
• After school clubs – K-1 cooking club over, lots of participation.
6. Other Business:
• End of year inflatables has been reserved.
• Needed winter gear items: Nerby/Anderson – Budget for $300/$350 Approved by LaVon Johnson & Jenn Landphere.
• Blood Drive: No dates available for November, moved to February.
• Movie Night: Friday 12/7, selling candy, pizza, donated cookies, looking for
volunteers. Friday 2/7 + Food! We currently have a 3 movie contract. Will be used on 12/7, 2/7 & Fall of 2019.
• School Tool Box: Update 430 children fed using this service!

1. Meeting Called to Order: Meeting was called to order at 6:30 by LaVon Johnson. Welcome & introductions were made.
2. Treasurer’s Report: The Treasurer’s report was made by Jill Christopher. Reviewed proposed budget, noting a few edits still need to be made. Looked at needs.
3. Presidents Report: The President’s report was given by LaVon Johnson. September Meeting minutes were approved by Jill Christopher. More details in committee reports.

• Thank You: to reading teachers for attending. Sponsoring book fair during the upcoming parent-teacher conferences.
• Homecoming Week (Sept 21) SHS Senior (Jacob Anderson) was a gues reader in each Kindergarten class as part of the high school homecoming activities.
• Dream Box online Math Tutorial: implemented building -wide, as of the end of September: 5,251 lessons have been completed.
• October is Fire Prevention Month (Oct 7-13). This year’s theme: “Look, Listen, Learn. Fire can happen anywhere”. Teachers received activities to implement with students.
• Dress up days & penny drive: October 29-November 2. Penny Drive will benefit “Home Blitz Build” through Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity. Plan to build 3x homes in 10 days.
• Activities/Upcoming Events: Oct 15-16 Parent Teacher Conferences & PTO Book Fair. Oct 18-19 NO SCHOOL.

• Fall Fundraiser: Robin Berg & Holly Aasby Everything went great! We raised over $16,500+!! Recommended giving money to the few students who raised over $800! Approved $25 Target Gift Card, Thunder road & Book Fair coupons.
• Spirit Wear: Amber Thorstad & Elizabeth Anderson Steve Saxlund at 3X Gear has put together an order form & New Designs. Orders due 11/2/18
• Family Fun Night: Jenn Landphere, Megan Kratcha Looking at having a dance/costume/family fun night Friday 11/2/18. Look into booking DJ, getting volunteers.
• American Education Week: Danielle Gilseth, Andrea Metcalf Agreed $300/$350 was OK for to fund treats. Dates Nov 12-16

- Giving money for kids in our school - needs based on teacher referrals for winter clothing, snacks, meals, backpacks.

1. Meeting Called to Order: Meeting was called to order at 6:30 by LaVon Johnson. Welcome & introductions were made.
2. Bond Presentation: Presented by Superintendent Bethe Slette, Dr. Burgad, Mark Lamere & Stephanie Hansen.
• PowerPoint presentation was given & information shared about the upcoming bond referendum. Information regarding enrollment projections, long range facility planning, and the new buildings that will be built were discussed.
3. Treasurer’s Report: The Treasurer’s report was made by Jill Christopher. The starting checkbook balance for the 2018-2019 school year is $9,171.03
4. Presidents Report: The President’s report was given by LaVon Johnson. Welcome to the 2018-2019 PTO.
• Milk Money will be donated to 7 kids at our school this year at $36 per semester.
• Flu Shot Clinic: Tentatively set up for Tuesday Nov 13th. Needing a chair to run this event.
• Skate City event set for the same day at the October PTO meeting. Meeting was changed to Monday October 1st @ 6:30pm.

• Staff & Student Update: several new faces at Aurora Elementary this year, including administrative assistant, Special Education, Reading Para,
Noon duty para, classroom teachers & custodian.
• Enrollment this year: 518 (Same as last year) Kindergarten – 89, 1st- 91, 2nd- 93, 3rd – 83, 4th – 76, 5th- 83 = 514 w/ 23 classroom teachers.
• Our district is in its 3rd year of our 5-year strategic plan for (2016-2021). Setting academic goals & setting organization goals.

• School Supply Drive: Presented by Tawyna Follingstad. Working on contract for net school year to receive the 11% discount. Motion approved
by Jill Christopher & LaVon Johnson. Talked about moving the table for families to see it better at back to school night.
• Spirit Wear: Presented by Amber Thorstad & Elizabeth Anderson – working on a new logo & clothing options.
• Fall Fundraiser: Presented by Robin Berg & Holly Aasby. Fall fundraiser runs through Sept 20th (2 weeks). Volunteers called for distribution.
Looking to add a walk-athon and adding new people to the fundraising committee to get this up & running.
• Box Tops: Presented by Jill Christopher – Announcements to come after fall fundraiser. Info was given on Cashwise more rewards & coke
points.
